Prime Time

So it has come to that time ⌚ again and honestly, I don't know about you 🤷‍♂️ but 2022 feels more like a runner number 🏃than a year, competing with the previous years and crossing the finishing line in first place🥇

Everyone who has wished me a Happy New Year🎉, I shared the same sentiment on how quick the year has gone and I'm not alone thinking that.....it has gone super quick 🌠 and makes me wonder 🤔 if 2023 will be cool as a cucumber 😎 or as competitive as you cowboys out there 🤠 especially when out the road 🛣️ that's its no wonder people freak 🤯😤 at the wheel 🚘 😅😂

It's not only on the road where it is mad 😵 but even in our politics/leadership 👨‍💼👩‍💼👨‍💼. In the 'Game of Thrones' heyday when we can understand Baratheon 🦌 vs Targaryen 🐲 as we understand Conversatives vs Labour, but since the release of 'House of the Dragon' this year, we see Targaryen 🐲 vs Targaryen 🐲 in unnecessary war ⚔️ in 'peace time'! and it isn't always down to leaders for leaders can do nothing without support. For just as the majority supported the motion of 'Get Brexit done', let our mantra be 'Get work done' 😂 because squabbles will not fix real issues and even in Opposition, if Bills of Parliament are not passed before the next Election in the time consuming Law making process, the work isn't going to get done and yet, isn't the role of Government meant to serve the people?

Servant leadership is exactly what Jesus ✝️ embodied, from His birth 👶 in a stable where animals lived 🐴🐮🐷🐗 and for His bed, the manger 🧺 where the animals would feed. Life wasn't a comfort in the beginning because no Inn had room 🚪 for Him (Lk 2:7) and nor was it in His ministry to have no place to call His own (Mt 8:20) 🏠. For He understood that materialistically we enter life with nothing and despite what we earn and gather 🌾, we leave life with nothing. What matters is the life after this one, which is where Jesus comes in to serve (Mt 20:28) to do the will of God who sent Him (Lk 22:42) and He demonstrated this by washing the Disciples' feet (Jhn 13) and His death on the cross ✝️ for you and for me 💕 

It is what we expect from our leaders, having made us promises at an election and having them fulfil their promises. Sadly it doesn't happen in politics 😢👎 but it does happen with God 😍👍 as they'd be no Christmas 🌟 if He didn't!

For the times we live in are getting hard, even the news has many in disbelief and sudden shock 👀 but it is no shock to our omniscient God 🧠 where Jesus, God in flesh (Jhn 1:1, 14) warned us what is to come (Mt 24) and we can see it with our own natural eyes 👀

Today I saw the headline from the Independent which I'll provide a link at the bottom 👇 that reads "Absolute chaos as Aldi shoppers shove young children to buy Prime drink" and to me, that is shocking 😱 and alarming 🚨 to involve children in a pursuit of greed for a drink 🤔 and I say greed because there's no need at all for a panic. It is the same as it was during lock down 🔒 with toilet rolls, everyone stocking up incase it runs out and because of -that- action of many ⚠️ it is no longer a case of 'may' run out but 'has' run out 👀👎👎

I can understand the zeal of trying something new, but if many have the zeal to try a drink 🥛that will perish, either by consumption or while stocks last 😅 then why not try living water 💦 from a well that will never run dry (Jhn 4:14) and make that your Prime drink 🍻

For it was on the 8th day after Christ's birth 👶 that Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to Jerusalem after the custom of the Jews to have Him circumcised. Waiting for Him was Simeon, a man who lived a 'devout' life but knew something was missing, for Israel 🇮🇱 was in a desperate situation under Roman occupation 💂 and as soon as he came into contact with Christ, he rejoiced that he could now die in peace "for mine eyes have seen thy salvation" (Lk 2:30) 🙌🏻 for Jesus ticked all the boxes from the prophecies that preceded Him ✅✅✅ and not satisfied with 'the same old same old', he received Him 🌟

Aside from the shepherds 🐑 who were invited by the angel, it was Simeon who 'rushed ahead of the queue' to witness what was new. He was in his prime and he made seeing Jesus his Prime mission, way back at His birth - let us in making our New Year Resolutions make Prime Time 📺 with Jesus ✝️ while we have time...

Time ⌚ is a fickle thing, the psalmist David 👑 described our time on Earth as 'grass' 🌄 and as a 'flower of the field' 🌸 (Psa 103:15) but we were warned time will speed up just as birth pains speed up (Mt 24:8). Ladies and those of the medical profession would know this more 👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️ that as the time for birth drew nearer, more birth pains would be felt. So when Mary 🤰is 'great with child' to leave Nazareth in the North of Israel to come to Bethlehem in the South for the census, it was no easy feat (Lk 2:1-5) but at the end of it - Jesus came 😍

Now it is not a case of Mary in labour, but the Bible says that now the world 🌍 is in labour (Rom 8:22), evident by the quicker days and like before, at the end of it - Jesus will return 😍 the 2nd Advent. The Q for us all 🤔 If we will be ready? 

Making Christmas 🌟 less of a remembrance of things that have gone, but a reminder of things that have happened and things that are to come. Summed up beautifully in the Christmas Carol: Once in Royal David's City 😊

Come and See

Every year and every generation has its own cross ✝️ to bear. Across our nation 🇬🇧 and across our world 🌍 we face the unprecedented reality that the elderly are among our most vulnerable. In times of prosperity, this is often forgotten about in some circles 😢 and yet it is the generations before us that laid the foundations of yesterday, to allow for the next generation to take hold of tomorrow . I do not believe the above can be disputed, neither the biological fact that our very existence 👶 would not have been , if not for our natural born parents 👫. This chain can then follow that our parents would not have been if not for our grandparents 🧓👴 and so on. However biology is only one realm of thought 💭 and if we challenge ourselves further, it is also a social fact that our natural born parents would not have been , if not for what brought them together. New Year New Beginnings

Making this shout-out to one and all as we enter 2021 🎉 following the tumultuous year of 2020. Where Christmas celebrations have passed 🎄🎁 and the New Year has been greeted by the welcome party of ooooh's and ahhhh's lighting up the sky. You know what I'm talking about 😉🧨 with some being lighted up hours earlier for the new year to come sooner 😜 which I cannot blame at all....  However what is common at each New Year is the making of New Year Resolutions.
